Iron Man 2 Sketch Cards

My Iron Man 2 cards were approved. I can’t remember when this set comes out. Pretty soon I would think.

One of the things I learned on this set is that the old, bulky costume was more fun to do. It was easy to reflect the background into the armor giving it a little more life.

Virginia Comicon pinup – final

I finally finished the colors to this pinup, and as promised I’ve included the original picture it’s a parody of. (Well, maybe an homage more than a parody.) The show is the weekend before Thanksgiving. If you’re in the Richmond area be sure to check it out.

I would also like to say that finding and inserting all those comic covers was tedious. But at least I was able to find the Sea Monkey ad and the cover to the Kool-aid man comic. Ahh…the 80s.

Spider-man drawing from X-con

When I sat down at the show on Friday, I really didn’t feel like drawing. Once I started, however, I found it hard to stop. Sometimes I get into a groove and my brain seems in tune to drawing and things just flow. I’m trying to keep that going as long as possible. I was really happy with this Spider-man considering how hard it is for me to come up with good Spider-man poses.

Va Comic con inks

The inks are finished on the Virginia Comic Con piece. Rick Ketcham inked my Hulk and Betty, Steve Bird Batman and Spiderman, and John Wycough did Randy’s Wonder Woman.

Sketch card set

Here’s a set of 5 sketch cards I did last week. Wolverine, Captain America, Venom, Iron Man, and Spider-man. I tried to tie these together with similar backgrounds. I think my favorite thing about them is the city behind Venom. I like how the cool gray markers faded into the warm gray giving it a sense of rising up in the distance.

Virginia Comicon poster – pencils

Me and the guys at Tsunami Studios are doing our annual trip up to Richmond to the Virginia Comicon the weekend before Thanksgiving. This year we’re doing a promotional poster for the show. Robert Atkins laid out it out then finished Spider-man. Randy Green did Wonder Woman, Kelly Yates did Batman. I did the Hulk and Betty. It’ll be inked and colored this week.

Can you name the inspiration for the design?
