Last year my wife and I were sitting in a coffee shop in Wilmington. I took the time to unwind and sketch some buildings. Something I don’t focus on enough.

This one is a recreation of a scene from an Ultimate X-Men book. After I finished I thought, “that’s the most violent thing I’ve ever drawn.” But it’s Wolverine. He’ll get better.

I’ve always liked sketching with a regular old ball point pen. I’m not exactly sure why.

It helps me to warm up with loose sketches or studies before diving into whatever project I’m working on for the day. I’ve found it helps me develop an eye for the larger forms and how they interact before moving on to the more detailed features of a drawing.
